Our immediate family consisted of a mother (separated from her husband) two daughters and two sons. The daughters and sons are young adults and have children of their own. But the family was very close. They visited each other often, some visited with each other on a daily basis. There was always a gathering on holidays and birthdays and we loved each other very much. Out of the mother's four children came 16 living grandchildren and one deceased granddaughter.
But one day, one of the sons was brutally murdered beside his home in front of his youngest sister and one of his children. It was said that there was a VERBAL altercation with the son (age 30) and a couple of teen-agers. The teen-agers made a phone call to the devil and he came to kill. He never even tried to listen to what happened between the son and the teen-agers; he just began shooting. The son was hit eight times.
Well that was like the "shot heard around the world" because it changed our whole lives. At this point, you can either lose it or keep it together! Because the son was so very much loved and made such a positive impact on everyone's lives, it left a void in our lives. What and how to go on became words that were but whispers. Thank God above that we had some strong spiritual warriors in our family. We realize that God does not allow anything to happen without a reason. Everything that happens fits into his perfect plan for our lives.
Our philosophy
is that our son, brother, father, lover, relative and friend was a
sacrificial lamb. We feel that he had made his pact with God and that
God took him quickly so that he felt no pain. We feel that he would
want us to try and help others through their pain and grief. With
that being said we know we can go on because we can do
all things through Christ who strengthens us.
